Mayweather-McGregor 'Overhyped Superfight'
Client: Bleacher Report
Production Company: Bunko Studios Inc.
The Objective: Create social content to generate activity for Bleacher Report’s social sites: Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube in anticipation for the major event, Mayweather and McGregor fight
The Challenge: The goal was to make this social video a parody of the famous Celebrity Death Match (aired on MTV Networks over twenty years ago). This original show was all genuine Claymation which is an intense time consuming process. The production timeline and budget did not allow a true replication of this process. The characters portrayed need to accurately resemble the real personalities.
The Solution: I tackled this project in all 3D production but carefully mimicking Claymation with the right texture on the models and making sure the animation had the jittery feel that a traditional Claymation used to produce. Having a knack for translating real faces into a 3D cartoon form, I modeled the caricatures of the characters and directed my creative team to carefully animate purposely with the irregular timing in motion to give a feel of Claymation. The posting of this video went viral across all the Bleacher Report’s social platforms in less than 48 hours with viewers comments hinting that this was the actual Claymation team who made the original Celebrity Death Match.
"A Carmelo Anthony Christmas"
Client: Bleacher Report
Production Company: Bunko Studios Inc.
The Objective: Create social content to celebrate the holiday season with Bleacher Report’s social fans and engaging them to comment and interact with one another across Bleacher Report’s social platforms
The Challenge: Parody of Charlie Brown with accurately depicting the pro players as the characters in the cartoon.
The Solution: To get the style close to the original Charlie Brown animation, I had my creative team take a traditional approach on drawing and painting, but using all digital tools. This allowed us to speed up production time to keep up to the rapid pace the production required to meet final deadlines. This video also garnered viral amount of views across the Bleacher Report’s social platforms. I estimate 90 percent of current views were gained within the first 48 hours of the post.
